SpeakMove plugin for BlitzIn 2

To enable BlitzIn to use voice synthesis while observing a game, download and install this file: SpeakInstall.exe. This 3351 KB file will install the Microsoft components necessary for speech synthesis, add the SpeakMove plugin to your blitzin2 directory, and create desktop and start menu icons for running the plugin.

Last updated: May 27, 2000. See below for the version history. If you have an earlier version and only want to download the updated executable, not the entire suite, grab this version 1.2 zip file (75 KB) and unzip it into your blitzin2 directory.

Note: On some systems, it is necessary to turn OFF Options->Sounds in BlitzIn in order to have SpeakMove work properly. I think this is a function of how expensive your sound card is -- i.e. how many "channels" it has -- but I'm not certain.

Bug: Apparently, the installer doesn't work with long file names, or folder names that include spaces. So if you have BlitzIn2 in the directory "C:\Program Files\ICC\BlitzIn 2" for example, there might be a problem. What can do is make a folder C:\Blitzin2 and copy your BlitzIn2.exe there, then run the Speakmove installer. Then if you want to fix it so it runs in your usual Blitzin directory, right-click on the icon Speakmove made, select Properties, and change the "Start in" line to be your usual Blitzin directory. (If you want to you can also change the target line, copy speakmove.exe over, and then you'd no longer need C:\Blitzin2)

Version 1.2:
No longer incessantly repeats "So-and-so tells you:" etc.
Saves checkbox settings for move/tell/kibitz between runs.
Added version number to title bar.
Version 1.1:
Added ability to vocalize tells and kibitzes.
